Here are the key points on the last Team RP general meeting:
1. We have a new members who are willing to work with us. Again we reviewed the different committees for them. There was also at the beginning, a heated discussion on the registration process for first time voters and how it has become a venue for corruption. Thus it was raised that in the reform committee, the registration process must also be given attention.
For the truth committee we have Sir Bam H. who will also be working for our communications department. I asked him to come with us if he is available when we meet with Atty. Malaluan.
2. There was a representative of the Action for Economic Reforms (AER), Sir Michael Ocampo who advised us to push for our meeting with Atty. Malaluan from the Access to Information Network (ATIN).
3. Apparently they want to be low profile with regards to the bill in congress. This proves that we have to coordinate our efforts with them given that we want to make it a bit more loud.
4. Since we were a small group, discussions jumped from different important issues such as the broken culture we have that breed corruption and the apathy of many Filipinos and even of the youth, to the different opinions that the participants had with regards to the presidentiables for the coming 2010 elections.
5. Atty Eirene said she can set us (the Truth committee) up with a lawyer who is more knowledgeable about the Freedom to Information Law.
IMPORTANT: please tell me when you would prefer the meeting to be:
I propose next week: Thusday or Friday after office hours, or Saturday late afternoon.
