Thanks to all of those that attended the GA on Apr 26. There were a lot of good ideas on the table. I suppose the next question on your minds is, "Moving forward, what do we do now?"

I propose the following steps:

  1. Consolidate action items and key points from the GA with those from previous core group meetings. So that we're all on the same page.
  2. Solicit volunteers for officers-in-charge (OIC) per action item or key point identified in #1. These OICs will be responsible for making progress in their area. This is, of course, purely voluntary. I believe we should be taking on assignments that genuinely interest us.
  3. OICs to create a plan-of-action for their area of responsibility. It's unlikely OICs will be able to do everything themselves, so the OIC should recruit help on these boards.
  4. A planning meeting on May 1 to discuss the above. Please see the events page. It's rather short notice, and I don't even know if the Ateneo area is convenient for the majority of the committee, so don't worry if you can't make it. No pressure. (On a related note, we should identify the best day / location for regular meetings. Once a week is probably too often. Maybe once every 2-3 weeks?)

I'll attempt to do #1 in the next post in the thread.

Consolidation of Action Items and Key Points

Here are the relevant items taken from the meeting minutes of Apr 17 core group meeting in Rockwell, as well as person assigned at the time. Link to the minutes in its entirety is here.

Action Item Who Date
Post summarized comparison of access to information bills on egroups Eli Apr 25
Finalize script of lightning play; test out during GA Paeng and Carlo Apr 25
Attend April 22 info session c/o Sen. Bong Revilla, chair of Senate committee on public information (coordinate with Raine Gatlabayan of ASOG for details) Eli and Paeng Apr 22
Set up meeting with Rep. Ed Zialcita, vice chair on House committee on public information Nines and Paul Apr 25
Intensify online campaign efforts for PAIL Eli and Paeng Apr 25

Can the folks assigned these items provide an update, if any? Paeng's script was tested out during the GA and is available in the forums, so that's done.

The following were the key points raised during the Truth Committee meeting in the Apr 25 GA:

  1. Sectoral Approach to Eliciting Support
    -CBCP
    -INC
-Youth -urban CDE -rural ... and crafting the relevant message/medium to target each
  2. The question of having a political personality as a face
-possibility of being used / nonpartisan stand vs. better recognition / stronger personality
  3. Determining timeline / milestones
    -signature targets by when
    -final legislation
    -before, during, or after 2010?
  4. Tapping Resource People / Experts
-Identifying possible resource people / experts
-Listing key questions, such as what's the best way to get PAIL through legislation?

I'd like to invite you all to expand or comment on the key points above. I think the ideas need to be fleshed out a little more so they can be turned into specific projects or action items. For example, #1 Sectoral Approach to Soliciting Support. I'd imagine that if someone has the contacts to get CBCP or INC on board, getting 10,000 signatures would be a snap.
